Episode Title Original Air Date Episode Description
1) Pilot 01/20/08 Walter White, a 50-year old chemistry teacher, secretly begins making crystallized methamphetamine to support his family after learning that he has terminal lung cancer. He teams up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, who is a meth dealer. Jesse is trying to sell the meth but the dealers snatch him and make him show them the lab, which is in an old RV that Walt and Jesse have purchased. Walt knows they intend to kill him so he poisons them while showing them his recipe.
2) Cat's in the Bag... 01/27/08 Walt and Jesse try to dispose of the two bodies in the RV, which becomes increasingly complicated when one of them, Krazy-8, wakes up. They eventually imprison him in Jesse's basement. Meanwhile, Skyler grows suspicious of Walter's recent behavior and discovers that their baby is a girl. Jesse disposes of the body of the other dealer, Emilio Koyama, using hydrofluoric acid as per Walt's instructions, but ignores Walt's warning to use a plastic bin and instead destroys his bathtub in the process.
3) ...And the Bag's in the River. 02/10/08 Walt cannot decide whether to kill Krazy-8. Meanwhile, Marie believes that Walter Jr. is smoking marijuana and asks Hank to scare him straight. Walt brings Krazy-8 something to eat, but things turn bad when Walt collapses while descending the steps into the basement. When Walt wakes up, he tells Krazy-8 that he has lung cancer and they start talking and get to know one another better. Eventually, Walt decides to release Krazy-8 but, upon realizing he intends to stab Walt upon his release, Walt strangles him in self-defense.
4)Cancer Man 02/17/08 Hank starts looking for the new drug kingpin around town (unaware that it is Walt). Walt reveals that he has cancer at a family barbecue. Jesse goes to visit his family, and finds out that his younger brother is smoking marijuana. Jesse covers for him, and is forced to leave his parents' house.
5) Gray Matter 02/24/08 An old friend of Walt offers him a job to help pay for the chemotherapy, and when Walt turns it down, outright offers to pay all of Walt's medical bills, an offer which Walt also refuses. When Walter tells Skyler about this, she doesn't respond well. Jesse attempts to cook meth on his own but cannot replicate the quality of Walt's product, while Walter Jr. gets in trouble when a cop catches him trying to buy beer.
6) Crazy Handful of Nothin' 03/02/08 Walt and Jesse come to an agreement: Walt will cook the meth while Jesse is the one who sells it on the streets. Skyler asks Walt about his missing hours and he explains that he just wants to be alone sometimes. Walt almost faints while cooking meth and Jesse discovers that the real reason why he is cooking meth is that he has lung cancer and is trying to help his family. Walt and Jesse search for a new distributor; despite initial problems, they make a deal with a new drug dealer named Tuco after Walt causes an explosion in Tuco's hideout using fulminate of mercury
7) A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal 03/09/08 Walt and Jesse face difficulties producing the large amount of meth promised to Tuco. Skyler confronts Marie about her shoplifting after being detained at the jewelry store where Marie stole an expensive tiara that she gave to Skyler for her baby shower. Walt and Jesse use thermite to break into a warehouse, where they steal a large barrel of methylamine, which is necessary for a new recipe that can produce much more meth in a shorter period of time. They deliver the promised amount of meth to Tuco, but during the transaction, one of Tuco's associates makes a seemingly innocuous comment, prompting Tuco to beat him until he is bloody and unconscious.

Episode Title Original Air Date Episode Description
1) Seven Thirty - Seven 03/08/09 Having completed their deal with Tuco in the junkyard, Walt and Jesse realize just how crazy and violent he can be. Jesse is convinced that he has seen Tuco's black SUV going up and down his street. Walt puts it down to paranoia—until he sees a black SUV parked just down the block from his house. Jesse's solution is to shoot Tuco before he kills them, but Walt has a better idea using ricin. Panic sets in, however, when they think Tuco is killing his associates. Hank reviews the security surveillance footage of the warehouse break-in without realizing it's Walt and Jesse. Skyler tells Hank about Marie's shoplifting and gets a surprising reaction.
2) Grilled 03/15/09 Having been kidnapped by a crazed Tuco, Walt and Jesse are held prisoner by him in a desert shack where he often hides out and takes care of his sick uncle. Walt's brother-in-law Hank and the DEA have rolled Tuco's entire organization, and Tuco thinks that one of his associates may have been a source of information. Walt unsuccessfully tries to feed Tuco the poison he prepared. Hank, meanwhile, takes a bit of time off to look for Walt. Skyler is sick with worry and has been distributing handbills with Walt's photo. Hank remembers that Jesse Pinkman was Walt's source of marijuana and tries to track him down. Tuco's mute wheelchair-bound uncle alerts him to the fact that his prisoners are up to something, and it looks like he's going to kill Jesse. Hank shows up looking for Jesse, and is confronted by Tuco. A brief firefight ensues and Hank shoots Tuco dead.
3) Bit by a Dead Bee 03/22/09 Having gotten away from Tuco, Walt and Jesse now have to get home and explain where they have been. Walt has a plan and they split up. He goes to a supermarket and takes off all of his clothes while walking around the aisles. He is hospitalized and claims to have no memory of where he has been for the last few days. Jesse returns to his house to clean out the basement and get rid of the RV. When the DEA track him down, he claims that he has been shacked up with a prostitute for the weekend. The police don't believe him and think they know how to nail him: they bring in Tuco's uncle to identify him. But the "old school" ex-con refuses to cooperate with the authorities. With some of his problems now behind him, Walt is keen to start cooking again.
4) Down 03/29/09 Walt and Jesse appear to be in the clear, but Jesse has no money and Walt can't leave the room without Skyler's wondering where he is. Jesse's parents are still fed up with him and his drug use, so they order him out of the house—it turns out they own it, not Jesse. He finds himself without a place to stay or any friends who will put him up for the night. He ends up tracking down his RV and spends the night in it. Walt's overly correct behavior sets Skyler off on a binge of not telling him anything about what she is up to or whom she is seeing. She is fed up with Walt's behavior and wants to know what is really going on.
5) Breakage 04/05/09 Walt continues his treatment and is starting to feel better but is concerned at the growing medical bills. Jesse begins to re-establish himself, paying off his debts and getting a new place to live. He develops an interest in his new next-door neighbor and landlord Jane Margolis. Walt and Jesse soon rev up the RV and are cooking again. Jesse's not keen on selling the stuff on the street and suggests he and Walt take over Tuco's role as a distributor. Hank and the DEA have come across the name Heisenberg and aren't sure if he is real or just an urban legend. Hank is promoted and soon appointed to a tri-state drug task force. He may have health issues of his own, however.
6)Peekaboo 04/12/09 Skinny Pete has been ripped off by a drug-addicted couple, and Walt has made it plain to Jesse that unless he does something about it, word will get around pretty quickly that Jesse and his crew are an easy mark. Jesse isn't a very effective enforcer, however, and soon finds himself in over his head. Walt goes back to work, but not all is going smoothly. Walt's story starts to unravel when Skyler gets a call from Gretchen Schwartz and Skyler thanks her for paying for Walt's treatment. Gretchen doesn't reveal the truth, but Walt's bitterness at their past relationship—personal and business—comes out. Jesse has been overpowered and held hostage by the two addicts, but the female addict kills her partner, Spooge, by unbalancing a stolen ATM machine onto his head in retaliation for his repeatedly calling her a "skank" and in order to take the meth in his pocket. Jesse calls the police and flees the scene.
7) Negro y Azul 04/19/09 Walt has trouble getting in touch with Jesse, who's been avoiding him since his encounter with Spooge. Jesse is also not providing product to his dealers, so Walt arranges to deliver it. He learns that the word on the street is that Jesse killed Spooge and, thanks to his new reputation as a cold-blooded killer, they're having no problem at all collecting payment. Walt decides the time has come to expand their territory and put Jesse's new reputation to good use. Skyler decides to get a job and goes back to her old employer. Hank starts his new job on the task force. He has told his wife Marie it's just a desk job but he is on the front lines and very soon learns just how dangerous it can be.
8) Better Call Saul 04/26/09 Walt and Jesse have yet another problem to deal with when one of their dealers, Jesse's friend Badger, is arrested by the Albuquerque police. They end up hiring a shady lawyer, Saul Goodman, who has a unique way of ensuring that Badger gets off with a light sentence without having to give away Jesse or Walt's identity. As Walt learns however, it may come at a very high price. Walt's brother-in-law Hank, the DEA Agent, is suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder following the bombing in Juarez. He puts on a brave face but is having trouble just getting out of bed in the morning. Walt has some suggestions for him.
9) 4 Days Out 05/03/09 Walt is convinced that his medical condition is deteriorating. He continues to have coughing fits and is now coughing up blood. After his attorney/advisor crunches the numbers, Walt realizes that there isn't much money left for his family. He and Jesse set off for the desert for a marathon cooking session over an extended weekend. Jesse continues to put his foot in it, this time by leaving the keys in the ignition and inadvertently draining the RV's battery. They find themselves stuck in the middle of the desert, cold and without much water. Walt's knowledge of chemistry again saves the day.
10) Over 05/10/09 Despite the good news about his condition, Walt is feeling out of sorts and is generally unhappy, verging on anger. Skyler decides to throw a party to celebrate the news and thank all of their friends for their support, but Walt gets drunk and then into an argument with Hank that puts a damper on things. He is embarrassed about his behavior and tries to make amends all around, but it's proving to be a challenge. He tries to channel his energies but eventually realizes what the problem is. Walt also tells Jesse the good news and tells him that he is finished with their little enterprise. Jesse's relationship with Jane continues to grow, but he is taken aback when her father drops in to see her and she doesn't introduce him as her boyfriend. The ensuing confrontation clarifies their relationship.
11)Mandala 05/17/09 After one of their dealers is murdered by a rival gang, Saul proposes new distribution method for Walt and Jesse's product. Under stress, Jesse tells Jane what he does. Saul puts Walt in touch with a meth distributor named Gus, who agrees to purchase Walt's product. However, Gus expresses concern about Jesse's drug problem, which has escalated into heroin use due to Jane's relapse. Walt receives a large offer for the short-notice delivery of the remainder of their inventory, but at the same time receives a call from Skyler, notifying him of her imminent labor.
12) Phoenix 05/24/09 Walt delivers the inventory in time, but misses his daughter's birth. Jesse confronts Walt about his share of the payment, but Walt refuses to disburse the funds until Jesse can prove his sobriety. Jesse and Jane's addiction is discovered by Jane's father, Donald, who agrees to give her one day to settle her affairs before going to rehab. In an effort to minimize the cost of Walt's upcoming surgery, Walt Jr. sets up a website to gather donations for his father's medical expenses. It is quickly used by Saul as a way to forward Walt's earnings without raising suspicion. After discovering Jesse's payday, Jane blackmails Walt into delivering Jesse's share. Later, Walt returns to Jesse's to attempt to help him break his addiction and observes Jane asphyxiating on her vomit while unconscious. He does nothing to help and allows her to die.
13) ABQ 05/31/09 Jesse awakens, discovers Jane's demise, and contacts Walt. Walt contacts Saul, who sends his PI/cleaner Mike (Jonathan Banks) to mitigate Jesse's involvement with Jane's death. Subsequently, Walt must rescue Jesse from self-destruction. Walt's funds are funneled into his son's website, which attracts the attention of the media. Walt's secretive behavior is made prominent once again when he accidentally references multiple cell phones while under the initial effects of anesthesia moments before his surgery. This prompts Skyler to investigate deeper, thereby revealing many of Walt's lies, which spurs her to leave him. Jane's father, an air traffic controller, distracted by the grief over his daughter's death, causes a mid-air collision, resulting in debris and human remains raining down onto the Whites' residence, as well as the rest of Albuquerque.

His wife Skyler has moved out with their son and newborn daughter to give Walt a chance to pack his things. She speaks to a divorce lawyer about making the split permanent but seems unsure when the attorney says she will uncover any money Walt may have hidden. When she confronts Walt about the divorce, she also uncovers for the first time just how he made his money. Walt's former business partner, Jesse Pinkman, is in rehab trying to overcome his addiction. He feels remorse over the events that led to the mid-air collision and learns not to shy away from them. When all is said and done, Walt decides to get out of manufacturing and tells his principal contact, Gus, that he's getting out of the business. Gus has an attractive offer however. Meanwhile, two dangerous looking men cross over into the US from Mexico.
2) Caballo sin Nombre 03/28/10 Walt is having difficulty adjusting to his new life. He doesn't want to be the bad guy and refuses to get into drug manufacturing again. He has an encounter with a police officer but manages to avoid charges courtesy of brother-in-law Hank's intervention. Skyler still won't let him set foot in the house and Walt Jr. in particular is having trouble understanding how his mother can treat him this way. His sleazy lawyer-partner Saul Goodman wants him to start producing meth again and takes steps to encourage him in that direction. Unbeknown to him, the Mexican cousins now know where he lives. Jesse meanwhile stops by his old house to find that his parents have had it renovated and have put it up for sale. Relations are still cool between them but Jesse approaches Saul with a plan.
3) I.F.T. 04/04/10 Walt moves into the house and tells Skyler he has no intention of leaving. She won't hear of it but Walter Jr. is thrilled that his Dad is back. It doesn't stop her from calling the police however in an attempt to have him thrown out. She also decides to pursue her own interests. Jesse is still having trouble coming to terms with his girlfriend's death but has moved back into his house and seems ready to get down to work. Unbeknown to Walter, Gus has arranged a meeting with his Mexican cartel counterparts and makes it clear that he wants him left alone, at least for now. Hank is still stressed and lashes out in a bar.
4) Green Light 04/11/10 Walt loses control endangering his job and relationships; Hank throws himself into his investigation; Jesse has a new plan.
5) Mas 04/18/10 Gus tries to lure Walt back into the business with a high-tech superlab; Skyler doubts her new relationship; Marie is concerned for Hank's well-being. Hank finds a link between the R.V. and Jesse.
6) Sunset 04/25/10 Walt settles into his new surroundings; Walt, Jr. wants answers about his parents' relationship; Hank's investigation causes problems for Walt and Jesse.
7) One Minute 05/02/10 Hank's volatility forces a confrontation with Jesse; Skyler pressures Walt to make a deal; Hank faces severe consequences.
8) I See You 05/09/10 As Jesse is released from hospital, Hank is admitted in critical condition with four gunshot wounds. His wife Marie is not taking it well and lashes out at Hank's boss and partner when she hears that they had taken his gun away, leaving him defenseless. She's also less than happy with Walt whom she blames for getting Hank on Jesse Pinkman's case in the first place. Back at his new underground lab, Walt has to tell Gale that he's no longer required. Spending his free time at the hospital, Jesse is left on his own in the lab and he's growing increasingly worried about meeting their quota. At the hospital, Walt sees one of the Mexican cousins recovering from his wounds and realizes they were probably after him as well. Gus decides to pay a visit to the hospital.
9)Kafkaesque 05/16/10 Walt and Jesse are now in full production in the new lab and are easily producing the 200 lbs per week of meth, as agreed. In fact, they're producing a few pounds more than required and Jesse can't quite understand why they're just "giving it away". He decides to take advantage of the situation. Walt's brother-in-law Hank is still recovering in the hospital and Marie is at a loss about what to do when she learns that their health plan will not necessarily provide the quantity and the quality of physical therapy required for Hank to fully recover the use of his legs. Skyler proposes that she and Walt pay the bills and has an interesting story to tell about how they can afford it. As for Walt, he realizes that his life was in danger and that it was only Gus' intervention that saved him.
10) Fly 05/23/10 Walt is suffering from insomnia, worried about the choices he has made and the direction his life has taken. Unaware that Jesse has been skimming a bit of their product, he also worried that the numbers in his formulas don't add up and that they always seem to somewhere between 4 and 8 ounces short of what the batch should have produced. The meticulous Walt is also concerned - to the point of paranoia - when he discovers a housefly in the lab. Worried about contamination, he goes to extreme lengths to kill it. Jesse comes to his rescue in an interesting way.
11) Abiquiu 05/30/10 Skyler gets the first of Hank's hospital bills and decides the time has come to get more involved in Walt's business affairs. She's particularly concerned that the money is laundered correctly and that it absolutely cannot be traced back to Walt's illegal activities. Walt introduces her to Saul the lawyer but she thinks the investment he's lined up is ludicrous and has a better idea. Jesse meanwhile is still trying to peddle the meth he been skimming at the lab and fed up with the slow pace, decides to show how it's done. At the hospital, Marie is thrilled at the prospect of Hank returning home but he doesn't seem anywhere near as pleased. Walt's employer, Gus, invites him to dinner and dispenses sage advice.
12) Half Measures 06/06/10 Jesse is ready for revenge when he realizes that the drug dealers who killed his friend are not only peddling their blue meth but are using an 11 year-old to do the work. He's prepared to kill them and wants Walt to help him out. Walt refuses but realizing the danger Jess has put himself in takes steps to protect him. Jesse's demands that they stop using children leads to unintended and tragic consequences. At home, Walt tries to lay down the law as it pertains to his role in the family but Skyler holds her ground and refuses to give him everything he wants. Hank meanwhile is still reluctant to leave the hospital and go home, even though his doctors have told him he's free to leave at any time. Marie gets him to agree by rubbing his penis until he ejaculates - something Hank did not think could happen.
13) Full Measure 06/13/10 In the aftermath of killing the drug dealers, Walt has a tense meeting with Gus who makes it quite clear that his patience has reached its limit. Walt professes not to know the whereabouts of Jesse who he claims has fled the State. Gus chooses Walt's new assistant, who turns out to be Gale. Walt knows that as long as he's the only cook available, Gus will have to keep him alive...

Breaking Bad Season 4 Poster Season 4

Episode Title Original Air Date Episode Description
1) Box Cutter 07/17/11 Walt and Jesse are held hostage in the lab by Victor and Mike, anxiously awaiting Gus's reaction to the murder of Gale. Skyler fears the worst when she can't get ahold of Walt. Saul is paranoid about bugs, wiretaps, and surveillance now, even hiring a personal bodyguard. Hank struggles with life at home after his injury, snapping at Marie and becoming more preoccupied with collecting and cataloging minerals. Gus shows up, changes into a lab suit, slits Victor's throat with a box cutter, then changes back to his work clothes and tells Walt and Jesse to get back to work, then leaves. Walt is more shaken than Jesse, who later tells Walt that they don't need to worry about being killed when it's as if, stuck in their situation now, they're already dead.
2) Thirty - Eight Snub 07/24/11 Walt illegally buys and begins carrying a Snubnosed revolver but Mike soon tells Walt he'll never see Gus again. Jesse, in an attempt to distract himself from having murdered Gale, buys an elaborate stereo system and throws an ongoing party with Badger and Skinny Pete. Hank continues to push Marie away. Skyler attempts to buy the car wash but the owner angrily refuses. Walt goes to Gus's home, presumably to kill him, but receives a call from Tyrus telling him to go home. Walt later follows Mike to a bar, tells Mike that he might be in danger as well, then asks Mike to get him in a room with Gus and Walt will "do the rest". Mike punches Walt, kicks him twice on the floor, then leaves. Badger and Skinny Pete leave Jesse following a binge of partying at his house. Jesse sits alone in front of one of his speakers, visibly distraught.
3) Open House 07/31/11 Walt furiously notices that a motion-detecting surveillance camera has been installed in the lab. Later that day, Skyler convinces Walt in a meeting with Saul to buy the car wash by mentioning how the owner insulted his manhood. She devises a plan to trick the owner into selling by having a hired-gun (supplied by Saul) pretend to be a water-tester who's shutting down the business out of concerns over contaminants. The owner promptly sells to her, agreeing to an even lower price than her original offer. Jesse is still feeling numb from recent events, attempting to clear his head with nostalgic go-kart trips. He continues to open his house up for all-night drug fueled parties, deliberately throwing piles of money in the midst of the chaos. Feeling stressed from her husband's coldness, Marie renews her kleptomania. She starts stealing objects from real-estate open houses, where she also makes up elaborate stories about who she is, but is eventually caught by a real-estate agent. A livid Hank pulls strings with a senior cop to get her out of being charged. The same cop drops by to leave the lab notes, found in Gale's apartment, for Hank to look at in case he can help them with their investigation. Hank initially shoves away the notebook, but begins to read it later that night.
4) Bullet Points 08/07/11 Mike is patiently waiting inside a refrigerated truck, seemingly with advance knowledge that it will be hijacked. After the armed hijackers stop the truck and fire automatic weapons into it, Mike shoots them both and emerges with a wounded ear. Walt and Skyler plan to tell Hank that they paid for the car wash with illicit gambling winnings. They rehearse the story and even attend a support group for gambling addicts, but Walt remains too distracted to put much effort into the charade. During a family dinner, Hank tells Walt that he is informally consulting on a murder case for the local police and reveals evidence that implicates Gale as cook of the high grade blue meth that's been turning up in the Southwest. Jesse's detached complacence leads to over seventy-thousand dollars in cash being stolen from his house. Jesse seems genuinely apathetic about the loss, but Mike recovers the money and warns Jesse that he's on thin ice. Gus and Mike have a brief meeting, shortly before which, Mike can be seen focusing on a small pen-knife resting in a cup on Gus's desk, showing a growing concern for his safety, or a growing desire to preserve it. Regardless, Mike reports back that Jesse has become "incautious" and something needs to be done. The episode ends with Mike driving Jesse to an unknown destination.
5) Shotgun 08/14/11 Fearing for Jesse's safety, Walt tries to confront Gus at Los Pollos Hermanos, but Gus is not there. Mike assures Walt that Jesse is safe, and he takes Jesse with him while he collects drug money for Gus. Walt and Skyler purchase the car wash, after which they have sex. Following this, Skyler asks Walt to move back into the house. Jesse fights off two attackers at one of the money collections, appearing to be a hero. He informs Walt that he will be making pick ups with Mike as a second job from now on. Gus and Mike discuss the attack on Jesse, and reveal that Gus set up the attack, planning for Jesse to win the confrontation. When Hank suggests to an intoxicated Walt that Gale was a genius, Walt's pride gets the better of him and he tells Hank that he believes Gale more likely copied another's work. Hank's pursuit of the case is renewed, and he expresses his puzzlement at finding a Los Pollos Hermanos napkin in Gale's belongings, as he was a vegan.
6) Cornered 08/21/11 When Walt wakes with a hangover, Skyler tells him she thinks his scoffing off the Gale-is-Heisenberg theory to Hank was a self-sabotaging "cry for help." Walt angrily denies that, telling her he's not in trouble because "I am the danger." Alarmed, Skyler leaves. Walt, worried, buys a flashy new car for Walt Jr. Walt picks up the keys to the car wash from Bogdan, who tells him he must be a "tough" boss; Walt, seething, refuses to let Bogdan take his framed first dollar from the business. He breaks the glass and uses the dollar to buy a soda from the vending machine. Rather than wait them out with Mike, Jesse cleverly tricks two meth-heads into surrendering product stolen from one of Gus's shipments. The lid has a message from the opposing cartel and Gus, preferring to maintain a "cold" war, tells Mike to arrange a sit-down. Walt tells Jesse that he suspects Gus is driving a wedge between him and Jesse and Jesse's heroic stopping of the stick-up was a set-up; he tells a fuming Jesse that "it's all about me!" Skyler drives to the Four Corners and flips a coin—it lands twice on the Colorado side but she reluctantly decides to return home. She tells Walt he must return Walt Jr.'s new car tomorrow and that "Someone has to protect this family from the man who protects this family."
7) Problem Dog 08/28/11 After Skyler tells Walt she's negotiated the return of the car to the dealership, Walt, angry, drives the Challenger to a parking lot near the airport, burns donuts and crashes into a parking block, then stuffs the ownership papers in the gas tank, lights them afire, and blows up the car. Saul covers up the outburst, which costs Walt $52,000. When Walt drops off more than $250,000—his fortnightly take—to Skyler, she's stunned by the amount, unsure how she'll launder his meth-lab earnings (over $7 million annually) through their car wash. Walt convinces Jesse to kill Gus and concocts a ricin poison in the lab that Jesse then hides in one of his cigarettes. At the sitdown with the cartel, though, Jesse hesitates and doesn't add the poison to the coffee he makes for Gus. The sitdown involves only a flat ultimatum from the cartel, rejected by Gus. Jesse returns to the 12-step group; during his turn, he angrily disagrees with the organizer about not judging oneself, noting he had used the group as potential meth-buyers and recently killed a "problem dog"—believing he should be judged for what he has done. Hank visits Gus's restaurant with Walt Jr. and slyly obtains Gus's fingerprints from a cup, which he uses to confirm that Gus had been in Gale's apartment; he reveals his evidence to his DEA chief, suggesting they now know who's funding Heisenberg.
8)Hermanos 09/04/11 In a flashback, Gus visits Hector (Tuco's uncle) and informs him of the death of his nephews after their attempt to kill Hank. In the present, Gus is questioned by Hank and the DEA, but has explanations for all their questions. These explanations are accepted by the DEA and local law enforcement, however a still suspicious Hank has Walt drive him to Gus's restaurant; once there, he tells Walt of his suspicions and tells him to slip a tracking device onto Gus's car. With instruction from Gus, Walt plants the device and Gus later removes it. Walt, alarmed by Hank's investigation into their boss, tells Jesse to poison Gus as soon as possible but he suspects Jesse's been putting it off. Gus is reassured by Mike that Hank is acting on his own, after being informed by an inside source. In another flashback, Gus and his business partner Max meet Hector when they approach drug kingpin Don Eladio, requesting to go into meth production with him. At Don Eladio's instruction, Hector shoots and kills Max as a warning to Gus.
9) Bug 09/11/11 Walt drives to Gus's restaurant with an eager Hank to retrieve the tracking bug he left on Gus's car. Hank's suspicious when the bug only shows Gus driving between home and work: "He's so clean he must be dirty." Skyler is alarmed when Ted, whose company's cooked books Skyler signed off on, visits to tell her the IRS is auditing him. She pretends to be his ditzy, untrained accountant, putting off the investigation so long as he pays the fines and back taxes, which Ted tells her he doesn't have the money to do. Hank's research uncovers Gus's depot, so Jesse is brought in to help clean and move all the product out of it. While there, one of the cartel's top lieutenants, sniping, kills one of the workers, but Mike pulls a shock-stilled Jesse to safety. Gus calls the cartel, giving in to their demands; Gus invites Jesse over for dinner and asks him if he can cook Walt's formula. The next night, Jesse calls Walt to come over; he then explains that Gus is sending him to Mexico to show the cartel how to cook Walt's formula. Walt responds by asking him if he poisoned Gus; Jesse says he didn't see him. Walt knows he saw him, he says, because he put a bug on Jesse's car that showed he was at Gus's. Jesse, furious at Walt's distrust, throws the bug at him, cutting his forehead open. The two fight and Jesse gets the upper hand, punching Walt repeatedly in the face, then telling him to leave and never come back.
10) Salud 09/18/11 Skyler shows Walt Jr. his sixteenth-birthday present, a PT Cruiser, but he's quietly disappointed. He goes to his dad's and Walt, recovering from his fight, lies about his injuries, saying they came about because he was gambling again; he breaks down, confiding to his son: "I made a mistake. It's my own fault." Skyler has Saul concoct a story about an inheritance to give Ted enough money to pay off his back taxes, but Saul follows up and finds that Ted immediately spent some of it on leasing a new Mercedes. She urges Ted to pay the IRS, but he refuses; Skyler finally tells him that she gave him the money. Jesse, Mike and Gus fly to the cartel's meth lab in Mexico where Jesse acts tough in front of the cartel's condescending chemist and Jesse's replication of Walt's formula results in an impressively 96.2% pure product; however, Jesse is then informed that he now belongs to the cartel. When Jesse, Mike, and Gus go to Don Eladio's estate to celebrate their alliance at a party with all of Don Eladio's capos present, Gus gives Don Eladio a rare, but poisoned, tequila. All but Mike and Jesse drink a glass, but Gus has previously taken an antidote. He goes to the bathroom soon after drinking, forcing himself to vomit it up as, poolside, Don Eladio and his men begin to die. During the trio's escape under fire from the estate, Tio's grandson Joaquin shoots Mike. Jesse kills him and drives away with Mike and Gus, who is still mortally ill despite his precautions.
11) Crawl Space 09/25/11 Jesse drives Mike and Gus to a clandestine medical clinic; prearranged by Gus, who is brought to a full recovery, but Mike must stay there for a week. Gus tells Jesse he can run the lab now, but Jesse tells him not to kill Walt. Ted refuses to take the money from Skyler; desperate, she calls Saul. Gus visits Hector again, telling him Don Eladio and his crew are all dead before showing him Jesse, who killed Hector's grandson and last relative Joaquin; Hector still refuses to look at Gus. Walt drives Hank to scope out the depot again but, en route, Hank tells him to go to an industrial laundry he's linked to Gus and Gale. Walt, panicking that he'll find the meth lab there, pulls into oncoming traffic, causing an accident and giving Hank whiplash. Saul's henchmen visit Ted and force him to write a check to the IRS but then Ted tries to flee, tripping over a rug and crashing headfirst into a counter. Walt realizes someone's been cooking in the lab, goes to Jesse's house, and begs him for help, saying Gus will kill him if Jesse replaces him. Jesse spurns Walt, and Gus's henchmen stun-gun him, driving him to the desert, where Gus tells Walt he's fired. Walt retorts that Gus can't kill him because Jesse won't let him. Gus says he'll now take care of Hank and, if Walt interferes, his family will die. Walt rushes to Saul and gets the number of a man who'll help him and his family "disappear"; he tells Saul to tip off the DEA about a hit on Hank. When Walt gets home and goes down into the crawl space, he finds there's not enough money for disappearing; Skyler tells a frenzied Walt that she gave it to Ted. Walt, in disbelief, starts laughing hysterically as Skyler, horrified, takes a call from Marie about sudden police-protection of Hank after there was a tip that the cartel's gunning for him.
12) End Times 10/02/11 Skyler, Walt Jr., and Holly go into DEA protection at Hank's at Marie's insistence. Hank harries ex-partner Steve into investigating the laundry; as Steve looks around there, Gus calls Jesse in the lab to tell him what's happening is Walt's fault, but Jesse still refuses to "sign off" on eliminating Walt. Saul summons Jesse to his office, where he's anxiously packing up, saying it's the "end times"; he gives Jesse's savings to him and tells him Gus threatened Walt's family. Andrea calls Jesse to the hospital because her son Brock is in critical condition with a mysterious flu-like illness. Jesse, suspecting what has happened, fishes for a cigarette, finds the ricin vial missing and tells Andrea to have the doctors treat Brock for poisoning. Jesse goes to Walt's house, where Walt has barricaded himself inside with just a revolver for protection. As Walt rambles, Jesse picks up the gun and accuses Walt of poisoning Brock; Walt pleads for his life and tells him Gus must be behind the poisoning, goading Jesse to kill Walt. Walt presses the revolver against his forehead, daring Jesse to kill him but Jesse can't, as he believes Walt. Jesse is now determined to kill Gus, but Walt tells Jesse to let him help. Walt rigs small explosives and plants them on Gus's car while Gus meets with Jesse in the hospital chapel, where he tells Jesse to return to work immediately. But Jesse faces him down, telling him only that Brock has been poisoned; Gus tells Jesse he may return next week. Gus walks back to his car in the garage, while Walt watches from a nearby rooftop through binoculars, ready to detonate the explosives. However, Gus seems to suspect something and walks away from his vehicle, dashing Walt's plan.
13) Face Off 10/09/11 After Walt's car bombing plan fails, Jesse is brought in for questioning by detectives because of his remark that Brock may have been poisoned by ricin. Walt pays a hefty bribe to Saul's secretary to get in touch with Saul, and with Jesse's help they realize that Gus may be vulnerable if he visits Hector at the nursing home. Walt visits Hector and offers him a chance for revenge against Fring: "I know that you despise me, but I'll bet that I know someone you hate even more." Hector then requests a meeting at the DEA office, but tells them nothing; he only crudely insults Hank. Tyrus has been tailing Hank and sees Hector leave the DEA office, and informs Gus. Jesse is released after no ricin is found in Brock's bloodwork. As he leaves the police station, Jesse is kidnapped. Tyrus visits Hector's room and sweeps it for any bugs; he informs Gus that it's clean. Gus arrives and berates Hector for speaking to the DEA, calling him a "crippled rata" and prepares to kill him. Hector finally looks him in the eye and then rings his bell, detonating a bomb that he has allowed Walt to plant in his wheelchair. The door is blown off of the room and Gus walks out into the hall and straightens his tie, apparently unharmed. The camera angle changes, revealing that Gus has been mortally injured, the entire right side of his face having been blown off. Gus falls to the floor, dead. Jesse is working at the lab under duress and under guard, when Walt arrives and executes Jesse's two captors. Walt and Jesse then flood the lab with chemicals and set it ablaze, wiping their fingerprints off the door as they leave. Later, Walt meets Jesse at the hospital parking garage, and Jesse tells him Brock's going to pull through and was poisoned by a Lily of the Valley plant, not ricin. When Jesse leaves, Walt calls Skyler, who's watching coverage of the nursing home bombing on the news. She asks, "Was this you?" Walt replies, "It's over. We're safe. I won." As he leaves the parking garage, he smiles at Gus's car, still parked there. In the final scene, on the deck of Walt's swimming pool, the camera slowly zooms in on a potted plant—a Lily of the Valley.

Episode Title Original Air Date Episode Description
1)Live Free or Die 07/15/12 Walt heads over to see his family, still being kept under guard, while dealing with the aftermath of the explosion at Casa Tranquila. News of the three deaths at the senior center spreads while Walt plots his next moves in order to ensure that his family and his secrets are kept safe.
2)Madrigal 07/22/12 A German businessman commits suicide to evade questioning about his ties to Gus Fring. In order to rebuild their lives and form a new profitable drug business, Walt and Jesse decide to look for a new potential partner to aid them in their latest venture. The DEA filters through various leads in hopes of finding something.
3)Hazard Pay 07/29/12 Walter moves back into the house, to Skyler's dismay. Walter, Mike and Jesse meet with Saul to discuss finding a new place to "cook." The group visits potential locations for a laboratory, but none is quite right. Walter decides they should use a pest control business as a cover. They will cook in the houses that have been tented over by the pest control business. When it comes time to divide the spoils of their first cook, Mike says that much of the money must go to his former men, whose assets were seized when they were arrested. Walter reluctantly accepts this, but hints to Jesse that he may consider an attempt to remedy this situation.
4)Fifty - One 08/05/12 Lydia offers up her own employee to the DEA and Mike offers her a replacement — Jesse. Together, she and Jesse spot a tracking device on a barrel of methylamine. Mike believes she placed the device herself. Since Walt admits cooking again to Skyler, they discuss the safety of the children.
5)Dead Freight 08/12/12 Mike and Lydia work to get the methylamine delivered for the operation. Walt and Jesse try to work through several ideas to keep undercover.
6)Buyout 08/19/12 Walter, Jesse, Mike, and their associate deal with the aftermath of the methylamine train heist. Mike is experiencing increased pressure because he is under constant DEA surveillance. He and Jesse begin to have doubts about their ability to continue in the illegal drug business. Mike strikes a buyout deal, which Jesse phones Walter to discuss. Walter invites Jesse to his home to talk, and confides in Jesse his regret about selling out of Gray Matter for $5,000 and his plans to build another empire. When Skyler arrives, Walter insists Jesse dine with them. At dinner, Skyler reveals she knows that Walter told Marie about her affair with Ted Beneke. Talking after dinner, Walter tells Jesse that Skyler sent their children to live elsewhere and is waiting for his "cancer to come back", and that that he intends to continue cooking meth at all costs, because "the business" is all he has left.
7)Say My Name 08/26/12 Walter, Jesse and Mike meet with Declan, without the methylamine. Walter suggests that he cook for them, while they take a 35% cut and pay off the $5,000,000 to Mike. Jesse still wants to quit cooking meth after he has seen so much bloodshed and, after a dispute, Walter eventually lets him leave but is not willing to pay Jesse any of the "dirty money" he has earned. Meanwhile Hank has been told to end his pursuit of Mike, so instead he follows the lawyer, David, who is laundering Mike's money. David gives in to the DEA, but Walter finds out and warns Mike, who tells him to get the emergency getaway bag he left at the airport. When they meet, Walter demands that Mike tell him the names of the nine people in prison whose silence Mike has been paying for. Mike refuses to meet Walt's demand, so Walter shoots him using a gun he found in Mike's bag. Mike appears to escape, but Walt finds him. He then realizes aloud that he could have gotten the names from Lydia, and apologizes to Mike, who asks Walt to "let him die in peace". Within a few moments, Mike dies and falls to the ground.
8)Gliding Over All 09/02/12 Walter meets with Lydia to obtain the names of Mike's people. Lydia (correctly) suspects that Walter will dispose of her once he obtains the names unless she becomes useful in another way, so she partners with him to expand his distribution overseas to the Czech Republic. Walter takes the names to Todd's uncle, who has ties with neo-Nazi gangs operating in the prisons. The nine prisoners and Mike's lawyer, including at least one ready to flip for Hank, are killed. Walter's meth production runs profitably and uninhibited. Skyler makes another effort to convince Walter to give up meth production, and Walter, shaken by his murder of Mike and seeing an opportunity to reunite his family, relents. Walter pays back Jesse's cut of the methylamine sale, and apparently gives up on meth production for good. The Whites' children move back in, and the family seems to be in repair. During a lunch by the pool, Hank skims through Walter's copy of Leaves of Grass, left in the bathroom. A note from Gale to Walter on the inside cover is addressed to "my other W. W." Hank realizes that this new W. W. is Walter White.
